Accessibility statement
Most visitors read this site on a phone. It is built so that it can be read without a mouse, with a screen reader, with enlarged text and in both directions of writing.
What is in place
- Every page is plain HTML with one heading structure, readable in order from top to bottom. There are no scripts needed to read any text.
- Text follows your browser's size settings and reflows on narrow screens. Text colours exceed the WCAG AA contrast ratio against the dark background.
- All 112 images carry a text description. The 33 scanned pages of the Hamas covenant each state which page they show.
- Arabic passages are marked as Arabic for screen readers and come with a translation directly underneath. Hebrew pages are marked as Hebrew and right to left.
- Links and buttons show a visible focus outline when you move through them with the keyboard. Video cards have a spoken label naming the person and the interview.
- Each video also has a plain link to open it on YouTube, where captions depend on the channel that published it.
Known gaps
- There is no "skip to content" link at the top of the pages yet.
- The scanned covenant is a set of images. The key passages are quoted in Arabic with a translation on the Hamas in its own words page, but the scan is not transcribed page by page.
- The embedded YouTube player is YouTube's own and its accessibility is YouTube's.
The site aims at WCAG 2.1 level AA. It has not had an external accessibility audit.
